At Faith City Ministries, we desire to inspire hope in the lives of people whose life situation looks devastating and impossible. Through the help of our staff, volunteers, and partners, Faith City is able to meet the many different needs we come across each day. Poverty, homelessness, unemployment, hunger, alcoholism, and many other types of abuse cause dismal and weary outcomes for people.
- As many as 3.5 million people experience homelessness in a given year (1% of the entire U.S. population or 10% of its poor), and about 842,000 people in any given week. 1.37 million (or 39%) of the total homeless population are children under the age of 18. 200,000 are homeless on any given day. The fastest growing population of homeless are those with children (40%) (1)
- The official poverty rate in 2008 was 13.2 percent, up from 12.5 percent in 2007. This was the first statistically significant annual increase in the poverty rate since 2004, when poverty increased to 12.7 percent from 12.5 percent in 2003. In 2008, 39.8 million people were in poverty, up from 37.3 million in 2007 -- the second consecutive annual increase in the number of people in poverty. (2)
- In 2007, 36.2 million people lived in households considered to be food insecure. The ten states with the highest food insecurity rates in 2007 were Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Maine, South Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. (3)

In 2008, Faith City saw over 44,000 come to our chapel services. Among those 393 accepted Christ as their Savior and 334 rededicated their lives to Him.
